Terms of Service
Last updated: October 5, 2026
These terms are the ground rules for using Easy Bill Split. The short version: it is a calculator for splitting a check, it does not move your money, and you should check the numbers.
1. Acceptance of these terms
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and Easy Bill Split (“we,” “us”), the operator of easybillsplit.com. By using the service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use Easy Bill Split. If you are under 18, you may use it only with the consent and supervision of a parent or legal guardian, who is responsible for your use. You must be able to form a binding contract in your jurisdiction to buy Host Pro.
3. What the service is
Easy Bill Split is a calculator and coordination tool. It helps a group work out who owes what on a shared bill.
We do not hold, transmit, or process money between users. We are not a bank, a payment processor, or a money transmitter. Pay links in the service open third-party apps such as Venmo, Cash App, PayPal, or Zelle. Any payment you make through those apps is solely between you and the other person, and is governed by that app's terms. We are not responsible for payments made, missed, or disputed.
“Mark paid” is a note for the group. It does not confirm that money moved.
4. Receipts read by AI
We use AI to read receipt photos, and AI makes mistakes. Items, prices, quantities, tax, and totals may be missing or wrong. You must review every scan against the actual receipt and verify all amounts before you share, claim, or pay. You are responsible for the amounts you choose to pay or request.
5. Anonymous use and accounts
You can use the core service without an account. If you add an email, you can sign in with a one-time code sent to that address and keep your bills across devices. You are responsible for activity on your account and for keeping access to your email secure. Tell us promptly if you think someone else has accessed your account.
6. Your content
You keep ownership of what you submit, such as receipt photos, item names, and display names. You give us a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide license to host, process, display, and transmit that content, and to share it with the people on your bill and our service providers, only as needed to operate and improve the service as described in the Privacy Policy. This license ends when your content is deleted. You confirm that you have the right to submit the content, including receipts.
7. Acceptable use
Do not:
- break the law or violate anyone's rights;
- upload content that is unlawful, harassing, or infringing, or photos that are not receipts;
- use the service to defraud or deceive other people;
- probe, scan, or test the service for vulnerabilities, or interfere with it or its security;
- use bots, scrapers, or automation to access the service or to get around scan limits or rate limits;
- reverse engineer the service, except where the law allows it; or
- resell the service or use it to build a competing product.
8. Host Pro subscription
Price and billing. Host Pro costs $4.99 per month or $39.99 per year, plus any taxes that apply. Payments are processed by Stripe.
Automatic renewal. Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period, monthly or yearly, at the then-current price, and we charge the payment method you gave us, until you cancel. We will not charge you again once you cancel.
Cancel anytime. You can cancel online at any time through the billing portal in your account (Account, then Manage). Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period, and you keep Host Pro until then.
Switching plans. You can switch between monthly and yearly at any time from your account. Switching to yearly takes effect right away and charges the prorated difference. Switching to monthly takes effect at your next renewal.
30-day money-back. If your first Host Pro payment was within the last 30 days, we refund every Host Pro payment you have made. Claim it in one tap from your account, or ask in Help. Host Pro ends when we issue the refund. The guarantee applies once per account. Other charges are non-refundable except where the law requires.
Price changes. We may change prices. We will give you notice before a change applies to you, and you can cancel before it takes effect.
9. Tips
Tips to Easy Bill Split are voluntary and never required. They are non-refundable, except where we charged you in error or where the law requires a refund. Tips do not buy any feature or special treatment.
10. Free-tier limits
Core splitting is free. Some limits, such as the number of receipt scans each month or how much history is shown, apply to free use. We may change these limits, and we will update the product or these Terms when we do.
11. Third-party services
The service relies on third parties, including payment apps, Stripe, and the providers listed in our Privacy Policy. We do not control them and are not responsible for their services, terms, or practices. If a third party is unavailable, parts of the service may not work.
12. Termination
You can stop using the service at any time and ask us to delete your data. We may suspend or end your access if you break these Terms, create risk or legal exposure for us or others, or if we discontinue the service. Sections that by their nature should survive termination will survive.
13. Disclaimers
The service is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not promise that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that receipt readings or calculations will be correct. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain disclaimers, so some of these may not apply to you.
14. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, or unpaid or misdirected payments between users, arising from your use of the service.
Our total liability for any claim relating to the service will not exceed the greater of $50 or the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
15. Indemnity
You will defend and indemnify us against claims, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your content, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any law or third party's rights, to the extent the law allows.
16. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by California law, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute that is not resolved informally will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Los Angeles County, California, and you and we consent to their jurisdiction.
Either of us may instead bring an individual claim in small-claims court if it qualifies. Before filing, please contact us through Help so we can try to fix it.
17. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms. If a change is material, we will update the date above and give notice in the app or by email before it takes effect. If you keep using the service after a change takes effect, you accept the updated Terms. If you do not accept them, stop using the service.
